Day 30:

It's finally here, the last day of the poetry challenge!

Sated

Here I huddle at horse-shoe end,
Wound in soft weavings of stories,
Elder grins reliving glories,
And beeps of what a patron spends.
Breathe in the life the kitchen lends,
Drink in the sight of tea spoon shakes,
Fat dumplings drowned in pepper flakes,
This whole intricate feast of souls,
Caught up in life's flavorful flow.
Here I huddle. Drink in the wake.

ABOUT THIS POETRY FORM

A decima is a 10 line poetry form from Puerto Rico, which is often sung. Founder was a Spanish writer Vicente Espinel.

It is a 10 line poem.
8 syllables per line.
Rhymes: end of line: abbaaccddc

Yeah! I did it.
I wrote this in celebration of being in the middle of writing my final poem of this 30 day challenge.
Had a celebratory lunch alone at a local restaurant.
I've now have 30 new poems written in 30 different styles, most styles of which I had never heard of before. This was a great challenge. Poetry, or thinking poetically, makes me see the world differently, makes me notice things I usually wouldn't notice, and helps me to appreciate the world that's wrapped around me.
