Day 5:

Supernova

Fistful of echoes is what we are,
Dusty screams of the dying stars.
Faded beams from far off skies
Spill into distant eyes
Of us, nebulous.
Wish we could see,
Honestly,
We are
stars.

ABOUT THIS POETRY FORM

A Nonet poem is a 9 line countdown poem.

Structure: Each line has one less syllable. First line is 9 syllables, next is 8 syllables, next is 7 syllables, and so on until the final line of 1 syllable.
It could also run in reverse, adding a syllable with each line. First line is 1 syllable, 2nd line is two syllables, 3rd line is three syllables, and so on until the final line of 9 syllables.

Rhymes: rarely rhymes

This was simple, yet not. Lines for the poem came to mind easily enough. It was reworking them to match the syllable count that took the most time. It was a good workout because I'm a sucker for punishment and struggled to make it rhyme. I like this form. I plan to write more Nonets, non rhyming ones of course.
